Operations Team

The SRC Operations Team is comprised of the Co-Directors of the event and the chairs of the various planning committees. The specific duties of the committees are described below. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on one of the committees listed below, please contact the co-directors by email at trichairs@hgse-src2008.org.

Co-Directors: Analia Jaimovich, Meredith Mira, and Jennie Weiner

The Co-Directors, along with advisors from the Office of Student Affairs and Office of Academic Services, are responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the 2008 Student Research Conference.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee is charged with developing a series of concurrent panels from all accepted proposals. Though this committee receives preliminary recommendations from the Proposal Review Committee, the Programming Committee is ultimately responsible for organizing panels that are thematically coherent, reasonably sound, and appealing. Additionally, this committee is responsible for recruiting faculty and advanced doctoral students to as moderators and discussants. Finally, the committee prepares the printed SRC program content and coordinates logistics such as room assignments and audiovisual requests in preparation for the event.

Proposal Review Committee

The Proposal Review Committee is charged with reviewing all proposals submitted to the SRC. The committee assesses each proposal using pre-determined criteria and offers constructive feedback to the student researchers. Further, the Proposal Review Committee makes initial recommendations to the Programming Committee regarding how the Programming Committee should group accepted proposals.

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee is responsible for developing and implementing an advertising and outreach program for the SRC. This includes promoting the call for proposals in the fall and the conference itself, in February. The specific duties of this committee include developing press releases and promotional literature, up-keeping the SRC website, and encouraging participation from within and outside the HGSE community.

Training Committee

The Training Committee is responsible for designing and implementing the training sessions offered to prepare students for the experience of participating in the SRC. Training Sessions will be provided to assist students with writing proposals, presenting work at conferences, and turning a presentation into a publication.

Administrative Advisers

The Operations Team and Advisory Board benefit from the incomparable assistance of the staff members in the Office of Academic Services and the Office of Student Affairs. In 2008 we are guided by Eileen McGowan, OAS, and Adonis Ferreira, OSA.

Advisory Board

The SRC Advisory Board is comprised of former SRC committee chairs, invited students representing the diverse backgrounds and interests of the HGSE student body, and two invited faculty members from HGSE. This year the advisors are Professor Judith Singer and Professor Terry Tivnan. This group serves to provide continuity and institutional memory for the SRC by offering informal guidance to the current Operations Team. Each spring, the Advisory Board elects the following year's conference Directors from among its members or from among the current committee chairs.
